Police Officer Kills Girlfriend, Suspected Lover Before Fleeing
Police in Kitui have initiated a manhunt for an officer suspected of fatally shooting two women, including his alleged lover, at a pub in Kanyonyoo market on Sunday night.
The suspect, assigned to the Kanyonyoo Police Station in Yata, Kitui County, is believed to have fled the scene with an AK-47 gun issued to him earlier that evening.
According to preliminary investigations, the officer had an argument with one of the ladies, Joy Mutisya, who claimed to be his boyfriend, before pulling his service pistol and shooting her.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident swiftly escalated, stunning bar goers.
The second woman, believed to be a friend of the first victim, was shot moments later as she reportedly attempted to intervene.
Both women died on the spot, and the officer is claimed to have fled the scene, causing chaos in the vicinity.

Mutisya sought cover in a nearby plot but was pursued by the police, who shot and killed her inside the home of a woman named Janet Ndanu.
He also shot Judy, whose exact name and age had not yet been confirmed.
“The incident happened around 10pm while the officer was in the company of the two women. They had a disagreement before all hell broke loose,” said Vincent Ndambuki, a resident of Kanyonyoo.
Residents were outraged by the incident, claiming it was the latest in a series of violent incidents involving police officers.
They accused the police of neglecting to properly address internal disciplinary issues and demanded quick action.
“This is not the first time we are witnessing such brutality. How many more lives must be lost before something is done?” questioned another local resident.
