Murkomen Hits Back At Gachagua Over US Testimony Threat
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has denied plans by DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua to testify against President William Ruto’s government in the US Senate over suspected terror links.
Speaking on Monday at the ongoing Jukwaa La Usalama caucus in Narok, the CS stated that the government would only take Gachagua’s charges seriously if he arrived and recorded a statement.
He also accused the former DP of being unpatriotic and promoting rumours over national unity.
Murkomen also accused Gachagua of ruining Kenya’s image during his visit to the United States, stating that he dismissed serious security concerns as a joke.

“If he has information, he should come home and submit it in writing to the DCI. That is the only way we know that the information that he has is true,” he said.
Adding that, “The decision to testify before the Senate of another country is laughable and does not warrant any strong grounds for his argument.
“Additionally, that shows his mental sanity since he wants to vie for a higher office.”
Murkomen also sought to explain allegations that he was interfering with the NPS’s job, claiming that he was only outlining what the law expects of the public.
“When I say that he should record a statement, I am not saying that NPS is not independent; I am just stating what is in the law,” he said.
On Sunday, Gachagua challenged Interior Minister Murkomen to arrest him when he returns to the nation, following his bombshell charges linking Ruto to terrorism while in the United States.

Gachagua declined Murkomen’s request that he record a statement as soon as he arrived in the nation.
The former Deputy President was speaking at a diaspora town hall event at Holy Names University in San Francisco, California, USA.
“I am not a leader who buys fear. I am not the one who has launched investigations against William Ruto. It is the Senate of the United States,” Gachagua said.

Adding that, “I have nothing useful to tell him (Murkomen). But if the Americans want me to assist in investigations, I would because that is where the investigations are.”
