IG Kanja Issues New Changes For Police Recruitment
The National Police Service (NPS) has published a notification outlining major additions and modifications to the nationwide recruitment of police constables on Monday, November 17, 2025.
In a note signed by Inspector General Douglas Kanja, NPS reaffirmed that the recruitment drive, which was originally promoted in various media channels on October 31, 2025, will continue as scheduled across the country.
However, significant changes have been made to the list of recruitment centres.
According to Kanja, former National Youth Service (NYS) candidates can now apply at their local sub-county recruitment centers or at the NYS Headquarters in Ruaraka, Nairobi County.
The middle was accidentally left out of the previous advertisement.

The National Police Service wishes to bring to the attention of the public that the following additions and corrections have been made to the recruitment centres for police constables.

The new list now includes revisions for sub-county recruitment centers in Kajiado and Narok counties.
In Kajiado County, the Kajiado West sub-county recruitment will take place at Ole Polos, while the Elangata Wuas sub-county exercise will be done at the DCC’s Elangata Wuas office.
In Narok County, the Narok West sub-county recruitment center has been renamed Ng’osuani Centre.
“All other information contained in the earlier advertisement remains unchanged,” the notice dated November 7 reads.
The National Police Service advised the public, particularly interested applicants, to take note of these changes to guarantee a smooth and transparent recruitment process.
The recruiting is part of continuous attempts to expand security forces and improve the country’s policing capacity.
It will take place concurrently in counties throughout 422 specified centers, and all applicants must report to their respective venues by 8 a.m.
To ensure transparency and impartiality, senior police officers and representatives from key government agencies will supervise the exercise.
The IG insisted that the recruitment process would be free and open to all competent Kenyans who met the minimal entry standards.

The statement came after a High Court verdict that declared the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) lacked the authority to recruit, train, employ, assign, promote, suspend, or discharge NPS officers.
Applicants are required to be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 28 years, possess a valid Kenya national identity card, and have attained a minimum grade of D+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), with at least a D+ in English or Kiswahili.
Candidates must also be physically and medically fit, with the minimum height requirements set at 5 feet 8 inches for men and 5 feet 3 inches for women.
