CS Ruku, Governor Mbarire Accuse Opposition of Intimidation Tactics
Geoffrey Ruku, Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, and Cecily Mbarire, Embu Governor, have claimed a scheme to intimidate voters in Mbeere North, which they believe is a stronghold of the United Democratic Alliance.
Kenya Kwanza leaders stated this during a news event on November 26, 2025, in which they accused the United Opposition of plotting violence during the Thursday by-elections.
“Their plan is to disrupt the voting tomorrow; we know they are focusing on our strongholds, in the areas where our UDA candidate is strong,” the Embu governor claimed.
“They want to ensure that when it gets to a certain time tomorrow, voting stops.”
The leaders dismissed the United Opposition’s charges, claiming that the opposition cannot scare voters into voting for them.
Governor Mbarire further said that the opposition’s goons are on the lookout for investigative officers.
During the meeting, the leaders promised Mbeere North locals that the government would provide enough security for all voters during the by-elections.

CS Ruku also claimed that the united opposition is bribing voters ahead of the election.
“We also want to condemn the voter bribery going on at Kanyombora, Ishiara, and several other areas led by the opposition,” the CS alleged.
