Ndindi Nyoro Sponsors Kiharu Teachers To Dubai After Excellent Results

Five-day public elementary school teachers from Kiharu constituency have been flown to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), as a prize for outstanding achievement.

The teachers benefit from MP Ndindi Nyoro’s 2022 motivation initiative, which aims to motivate and stimulate competition among day school teachers.

The batch includes head teachers from top-performing schools as well as instructors whose subjects have improved the most in the constituency, according to last year’s national examination results.

Teachers who perform well in this year’s national exams will advance to the next year.

Last year, 11 instructors were transported to Dubai, while one selected Malaysia because he had already visited Dubai in a similar trip.

“Any teacher who has been to the destination is allowed to choose another destination of their choice,” Anthony Warui, an aide to the MP, stated.

He stated that the MP and the NGCDF will jointly facilitate the five-day trip.

Warui stated that the initiative recognizes the hard work and sacrifices that instructors do in their efforts to produce great students, which frequently goes unappreciated.

Beatrice Wachira, the headteacher of Murang’a’s Technology Primary School, expressed joy.

“I feel so happy. I urge teachers to continue working hard because their commitment and self-drive will take them far and will not go unnoticed,” she said.

Esther Macharia from Githagara Primary School stated that her school has led the Kahuro subcounty for the past three years in a row.

All of her classrooms have been rebuilt and tiled, and pavement blocks have been put around the school compound.

The NGCDF is also developing a learning resource center, which will include a laboratory, to facilitate teaching and learning.

Francis Waithaka, the headteacher of Mbari ya Hiti Primary School, stated that he was transferred from Ngaru Primary School, which was named Best Improved in the Central Region in 2022 by Longhorn Publishers.

Waithaka expressed excitement that they will receive unprecedented exposure and that they will be able to attend learning institutions in a foreign country for benchmarking.

Waithaka stated that the anticipation and excitement for the trip has grown with each passing day since they were told of their selection.

“I couldn’t fall asleep last night. I just kept checking the watch waiting for the day to break,” he said.

He complimented the MP for the scheme, which he claimed provided them with an opportunity they would not have had otherwise.

Catherine Kamau from Githuguya Primary School, who has never visited the nation, expressed hope that the group will build lasting experiences.

“I plan to buy a nice chain as a souvenir from the trip. I will also work harder to have many more trips in future,” she said.

The programme is implemented under the Kiharu Fanikisha programme that also sponsors youths through short courses in local vocational training institutes.

“But because the programme cannot be covered by NGCDF, we look for extra funds from other sources to facilitate it,” Nyoro said.

In 2023, the MP launched the Kiharu Masomo Bora programme that has seen all 112 public primary schools tiled and subsidised fees for day secondary school students.

The students are also provided with free porridge and lunch six days a week, including chapati every last Friday of the month.
