Angry Parents Storm School After Ds, Es Scores In 2025 KCSE Exams
Angry parents stormed St Thomas Raganga Secondary School in Kisii County on Monday, January 12, chasing away teachers in response to the school’s dismal performance in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
While voicing their dissatisfaction, the parents invaded the school and attacked the instructors, including the principal, before closing down the administration block.
The parents accused the teachers of failing their children in the 2025 KCSE exams despite a significant investment in their children’s education.
While tensions rose, all of the instructors fled for safety, leaving the staff room unattended while parents and other townspeople seized control of the school grounds.
According to sources, the school’s best candidate received a D in the national exams, while the majority of students received D-minus ratings, with a few receiving Es.
In footage published online, parents and some kids marched to the school, holding twigs in protest of the institution’s poor performance.

“I brought my children to this school so that they could get an education, so that they can help me in the future,” said a parent.
“But the problem is that they have failed and that they can no longer help me the way I expected.”
“I currently have a child who is in form four, and he does not know anything. He is currently in his fourth year, yet they have yet to cover the form one syllabus,” the aggrieved parent added.
Parents who spoke to the media argued the school’s poor performance in the 2025 KCSE examinations had harmed their children’s chances, saying that the students were capable of much higher results.
The school, which opened in 1992, has battled with poor KCSE results in recent years, despite the fact that its motto is ‘Education for Life.’

The latest development follows three days after Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba released the 2025 KCSE examinations, with several top schools posting impressive results.
Of the 993,226 candidates who sat the 2025 KCSE examination, 492,012 were male, while 501,214 were female, representing 49.54 per cent and 50.46 per cent of the total candidature, respectively.
The number of candidates with direct university entry qualifications of mean grade C+ and above was 270,715, an improvement compared to 246,391 in 2024.
The number of candidates with grade C- (minus) and above was 507,131, while the number of candidates who got grade D+ and above was 634,082.
