REVEALED: New Ways Scammers Are Using To Swindle Kenyans Online

The government has cautioned Kenyans not to follow bogus social media accounts imitating the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Authority (KALRO).

In a notification issued on Saturday, January 31, 2026, the Ministry of Agriculture stated that it is not involved with nine social media profiles using its name and trademark that have been cheating unsuspecting Kenyans.

“The public is hereby notified that KALRO is NOT affiliated with the following social media accounts and any other accounts impersonating KALRO,” the Facebook post read.

“These fraudulent accounts have been scamming members of the public through impersonation and false representation.”

The highlighted social media accounts include KALRO Livestock Farm, KALRO Farm Livestock Naivasha, KALRO Farm Naivasha, Kalro Farm Kenya, Kalro Farm 07809536-, Kalro Farm Naivasha, KALRO Livestock Farm (appearing again as a distinct site), Kalro Livestock Farm, and Kalro Farm.

KALRO’s official communication outlets are Facebook (KALRO), X (Kalromkulima), TikTok (KALRO_Official), and its official website.

Other official contact numbers include 0800 721 741 and 0722 206 986.

Furthermore, the ministry stated that all payments are processed solely through the government’s E-Citizen portal (*222#).

KALRO has warned Kenyans to avoid communicating with unofficial or personal social media accounts, emphasizing that it is not liable for any losses or damages coming from such transactions.

Members of the public are reminded to remain vigilant and only verify information through the organization’s official channels before partaking in any activities or payments.

This caution follows a similar warning issued by the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), which warned the public about scammers impersonating the body and providing fake job opportunities.

In a notice on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, KPA said that the fraudsters have been posing as KPA management or staff or acting as agents to deceive individuals into making payments in exchange for employment.

KPA emphasised that its recruitment process is merit-based and that individuals seeking employment are not supposed to make any form of payment.

“The Kenya Ports Authority has noted with concern increased cases of unscrupulous individuals targeting unsuspecting members of the public purportedly to secure them employment with the KPA,” the notice read.
