Politician Arrested For Alleged Ksh51.4 Million in Fraudulent Payments
A Garissa County MCA has been arrested in connection with a graft case worth Ksh51.4 million.
The MCA was detained, along with two other former county officials who had previously served as Director of Accounting Services and Senior Principal Economist in the Garissa County Government.
The trio was arrested by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission agents on Sunday, February 22, and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Garissa Law Courts today, February 23, at 9 a.m., for plea taking.
According to EACC, the three were involved in fraudulent payments from the county government to a private store for goods and services that the Garissa County Government never bought or supplied.
“The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a Garissa County MCA, two former officials over Ksh51.4 million fraudulent payments,” the commission stated.

“The three suspects were arrested on 22nd February 2026 and are scheduled to be arraigned before the Garissa Law Courts today, 23rd February 2026, at 0900 for plea taking,” it added.
The arrest comes as the commission has increased its crackdown on government officials involved in corruption and misappropriation of public finances.
The latest arrest comes a month after the commission reported the arraignment of six defendants, including four Homa Bay County officials, for alleged procurement violations totaling Ksh 348 million.

The panel identified the persons as the former Clerk of Homa Bay County Assembly, the former Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager from the Ministry of Public Works in Nairobi, the Director of Hartland Enterprises Ltd, and the Director’s wife.
The individuals are said to have been involved in the irregular tender award valued at Ksh348,927,840 to a company during the 2019/2020 Financial Year, for the construction of the Homa Bay County Assembly Block, according to the EACC.
They were arrested on Friday, January 16, and were arraigned at the Kisii Chief Magistrates Court on Tuesday, January 20.
According to the investigation conducted by the ODPP, the officials from the county assembly awarded the tender to the company, which was found to be linked to some county employees.
