Ethekon has revealed that security concerns disrupted voter registration in some parts of the country, affecting operations during the exercise.
He said the challenges, though localised, included threats and attacks targeting registration personnel.
“Security concerns, though localised, also affected operations in certain areas,” Ethekon said.
“Incidences of threats and attacks on registration personnel, which were reported, necessitated enhanced coordination with security agencies to safeguard both staff and equipment.”
He noted that the commission worked closely with security agencies to ensure the safety of officials and protect electoral materials, allowing the exercise to proceed in affected areas despite the challenges.
