Gulf Energy Announces 39 Job Vacancies For Kenyans; How To Apply

The Gulf Energy Group, the company in charge of the Turkana oil extraction project, has announced a big recruitment drive for 39 roles ahead of the projected oil production project.

Gulf Energy announced on Thursday that it is looking for individuals in technical, operations, financial, logistics, environmental, security, communications, and leadership roles to assist the ambitious project.

According to the firm, it is working to meet a critical milestone of producing first oil by December 1, 2026, describing the project as a national investment that would change Kenya’s future for generations.

“Gulf Energy E&P BV is an independent upstream petroleum company within the Gulf Energy Group, and we’re leading the South Lokichar Basin oil development, Kenya’s first commercial oil development and a national investment that will shape the country for generations,” the notice read in part.

Gulf Energy E&P is hiring across 39 technical, operations and leadership roles as it prepares for first oil from Kenya’s South Lokichar Basin by 1st December 2026, with roles based in Turkana, Nairobi and Mombasa.

“We’re driving towards a defining milestone: First Oil by December 1, 2026. Getting there demands a team that performs at the highest level,” it added.

“We’re building a culture where excellence is the standard, accountability is shared, and people are trusted to deliver on commitments that matter to the whole country.”

Senior engineering roles, production specialists, environmental consultants, and accountants were among the listed vacancies.

Other fields are logistics coordinators and graduate trainee opportunities in engineering, geology, reservoir engineering, and petrophysics.

Most of the positions will be based in Turkana, where the oil fields are located, while others will be stationed in Nairobi and Mombasa or operate on a rotational basis between Nairobi and Turkana.

Among the roles advertised are Field Security Advisor, Senior Drilling Engineer, Senior Completions Engineer, Production Engineer, Human Resources Officer, Operations Superintendent, and Communications & Digital Officer.

The company is also offering several graduate opportunities targeting young professionals in electrical, mechanical, and process engineering, as well as geoscience disciplines.

According to the notice, the company encouraged residents to apply for the positions, noting that local participation remains a key component of the project’s development.

How To Apply

Applicants are required to possess relevant academic qualifications and professional certifications, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and be willing to work in remote locations where required.

Applications will be submitted through the company’s online careers portal (gulf.energy/careers). Interested individuals must apply by June 26, 2026, at 5 PM.

The Lokichar Basin is believed to hold over 560 million barrels of substantial oil reserves.

This represents Kenya’s first commercial oil development and is expected to play a significant role in the country’s energy sector once production begins.
