Orengo Announces Seat Faith Odhiambo Will Vie For In 2027
Siaya Governor James Orengo has stated that former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo will run for the Nairobi Woman Representative seat in the upcoming general election.
On Saturday, June 20, Orengo, a prominent member of the Linda Mwananchi faction that supports ODM, made the announcement.
Following weeks of conjecture on her future, she made her most recent political move by hosting Odhiambo at his office.
Orengo characterized Odhiambo in a statement obtained by this magazine as a bold champion of justice who had shown strong leadership by publicly supporting Gen Z protestors and nonviolent activists.
“Faith Odhiambo is a proven defender of justice whose fearless stand for Gen Z and peaceful protestors showed the true meaning of leadership,” Orengo stated.

He added that Odhiambo’s decision to join the Linda Mwananchi movement was a major boost for women’s leadership and the broader push for accountability and citizen-centred governance.
Orengo further endorsed her bid for the Nairobi Woman Representative position, arguing that the capital city requires leaders who can provide an independent and incorruptible voice in Parliament.
“Her bid for Nairobi Woman Representative comes at the perfect time. Nairobians deserve an incorruptible voice, and Faith is exactly that,” he added.
The announcement brings to an end weeks of speculation over Odhiambo’s political ambitions.

This follows her recent decision to align herself with the Linda Mwananchi wing led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
Earlier this month, Odhiambo was formally welcomed into the movement, with Sifuna sharing photos of her alongside the coalition’s leadership and campaign team.

Her entry into the race is expected to reshape Nairobi’s political landscape ahead of the elections, with several candidates already positioning themselves for the highly contested seat.
Among those who have publicly declared interest is Tabitha Mutinda, the nominated senator who currently serves as the vice chair of the Senate Finance Committee.
Also eyeing the position is Millicent Omanga of the DCP party, who unsuccessfully contested for the seat during the 2022 General Election.
Odhiambo rose to national prominence during her tenure as LSK president, frequently challenging government policies on constitutionalism, human rights, public debt accountability, and the rule of law.
She also attracted attention in 2024 when she declined an appointment to President William Ruto’s Public Debt Audit Task Force.
Faith argued that the assignment duplicated the constitutional mandate of existing institutions.
