Mercy Tarus Decries Morara Kebaso’s Use Of ‘Kenya Ni Home’ Slogan on X
There is a brewing feud within the anti-government movement, which arose during the protests against the infamous 2024 Finance Bill, with one faction accusing the other of hijacking the revolution’s agenda for personal gain.
Activists Morara Morara and Mercy Tarus clashed over the ‘Kenya Ni Home’ slogan, with both parties claiming ownership of the slogan and thus de facto leadership of the movement.
In recent weeks, the slogan has been used by two leaders of different civic education groups.
Tarus took to her X (formerly Twitter) to criticize Morara for misusing the slogan, accusing him of attempting to gain political clout.
“We agree on something, you go ahead and do the opposite and act ignorant. We might be facing the same enemy but our reasons differ,” Tarus shared on X.
“There is no such thing as a messiah in this thing. It is a collective effort. There are those that want to gain political power in the end and those that want other things. Kenya Ni Home and home must be respected!” she cautioned.
Ati our leader, our savior.

You're about to cry with disappointment more than a widow in mourning.
Say all you want but this thing is issue-based,not individual based, and remains that way if we are to win anything.
And if you're man enough you form yours.
Kenya Ni Home!
I have always turned down all the meetings you have planned through your proxies. My stand is clear that this moment is about active citizenship not surrounding Kenyans around a person. It is not a political campaign. That is what politicians do.

I remain autonomous. Stop using…
Earlier on September 8, the two appeared to be in agreement about using the slogan in their respective messaging campaigns.
“We are more than we are. We are one. Mbele pamoja (Forward together). Kenya Ni Home Movement will shake this country to its foundations. We will drain the swamp through civic education injections,” Morara shared on his handle to which Mercy Tarus replied, “Welcome, brother. It’s time!”
However, things changed when Morara approached his supporters about changing their slogan because another group was already using it.
“I have noticed that the slogan ‘Kenya Ni Home’ is already being used by another civic education team. Therefore, I need a new slogan. Comment below with slogans that we can use to drive the movement,” he urged his supporters.
Tarus, who rose to prominence after lecturing Uasin Gishu officials for arriving late to a meeting, has used the slogan ‘Kenya Ni Home’ in her messaging, a movement that Morara claims to lead.
No one can own a movement you can only be part of one. Let all kenyans print Kenya ni Home and hang it on their walls. Let all kenyans record vampire diary videos of how money has been stolen in their villages and towns through corruption and dead projects. The mission is to…

She also revealed that her advice to Morara is never implemented, and if it is, Morara takes credit.
“You cannot keep coming to me for advice and your fake commitment to the ‘movement’ then you go out to use my initiative’s name, slogan and plan to execute a vision you do not understand. Then you go out and act like you are so superior,” she vented questioning the source of funds of some of the activists.
Kenya Ni Home existed even before the protests. The parent company owns two subsidiary companies for:

Civic education and engagement…
She warned Morara not to get sucked into fame. “Don’t think you’re the one,” Tarus stated.
“You’re desperate because hype is a addictive and you need the temporary high all the time. You are always in my DMs and my call logs consulting, then you go out and shine with things that don’t belong to you.”
It comes just a day after Morara announced that a well-wisher had given him a mansion to use as an office as he seeks to assemble a team to conduct civic education campaigns across the country.
