KPSEA EXAMINATIONS: Things To Note About This Year’s Assessment Process
The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) began today, marking a significant event in the academic calendar for Grade 6 students across the country.

As students prepare for this assessment, here are five key points to consider:
Number of KPSEA Candidates
This year’s KPSEA will include 1,313,913 candidates from 35,573 examination centres across the country.
The sheer scope of this assessment demonstrates the government’s commitment to assessing the impact of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) on primary education.
Total Police Officers Deployed
The government has deployed 143,026 officers to administer the KPSEA exams.
The officers’ involvement in overseeing the exams emphasizes the importance placed on ensuring a smooth and fair assessment process.
Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Ogamba oversaw the distribution of KPSEA papers at the Kenya National Examinations Council Container in Westlands, Nairobi.
Invigilation Regulations
In a notable departure from traditional exam protocols, the KPSEA will be administered without strict invigilation.
According to Basic Education PS Belio Kipsang, candidates will be able to complete their assessments in a supportive environment alongside their teachers.
This change is intended to create a more relaxed atmosphere, reflecting teachers’ confidence in their ability to manage assessments effectively.

The first day of exams will concentrate on mathematics and English.
Candidates will complete the Mathematics paper in the morning, followed by the English paper in the middle of the morning.
This structure aims to assess students’ fundamental skills in these critical subjects as they progress from primary to secondary school.
Second Day – KPSEA
On the second day, learners will take the Integrated Science paper in the morning, followed by the Kiswahili/Kenyan Sign Language assessment in the middle of the morning.
This day highlights the importance of local languages and science education in the curriculum, allowing students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in these areas.
Third-Day – KPSEA
KPSEA concludes with the Creative Arts and Social Studies paper.
