DCI Breaks Silence On State House Break-In After 2 Kenyans Arrested
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Sunday dismissed claims that its officers had apprehended two individuals for breaking into the State House in Mombasa and sleeping on President William Ruto’s bed.
This comes after a fake news statement circulated online, stating that the two suspects apprehended by DCI officers were caught while resting on President Ruto’s king-size bed.

However, the Agency claimed that the two were not apprehended for allegedly breaking into the State House. Instead, they were detained on Digo Road in Coastal City.

“Contrary to some fake news doing rounds in the online space, two suspects were arrested on November 11, 2024, by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) of Central Police Station Mombasa, for the offence of handling suspected stolen properties,” DCI clarified in a statement.
The bogus story said that the two suspects were apprehended after cooks detected snoring sounds coming from the President’s bedroom and notified security.
According to reports, no objects were destroyed or stolen during the event, raising doubts about the two suspects’ intentions.
According to the DCI, the two suspects, one aged 20 and the other 29 years old, claim they were apprehended after a tip-off from concerned members of the public who suspected them of trading in illegal items.
Acting quickly on the tip-off, sleuths from Mombasa raided the suspects’ homes at the Rio Building on Digo Road, recovering an assortment of stolen goods.

Among the stolen commodities found were 51 mobile phones and multiple laptop computers, as well as other items valued at more than Ksh1.2 million.
It comes only a day after the DCI apprehended a renowned suspect in Kasarani, Nairobi, for defrauding a foreign national out of Ksh500,000 after making him drunk.
The suspect had been on police radar for some time following a series of reports against her.
It was alleged that the culprit stole the Chadian national’s two mobile phones and other goods before fleeing the scene.
