‘I’m giving them a notice!’ – CS Joho Warns Kenyans Calling For Accountability
Hassan Joho, Cabinet Secretary for Mining and the Blue Economy, has taken aim at online trolls who target government initiatives, claiming that people in government will match their enthusiasm.
The former Mombasa governor claimed there is a clique of Kenyans who spend their time on social media criticizing every development project.
Joho was speaking at Wundanyi, Taita Taveta County, where he joined President William Ruto to launch a series of development projects.
“There are people at this very moment we are here, they are online. Mr President, a country cannot be built online; a country cannot be developed by a people whose work is Twitter (now X), Facebook, TikTok (and) Instagram,” Joho said.
He stated that any form of trolling by persons in this lot will not go unchecked.

“I’m giving them a notice today, they should not think they are the only ones with a mouth. We also have mouths, if they poke us, we will respond affirmatively,” he said,
The President was in Taita Taveta County, where he commissioned and initiated several development initiatives.
They include the construction of a 33/11kV substation and the launch of the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation Paranga Electrification in Wundanyi, all of which are part of the government’s attempts to expand the Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Project.
The President stated that the government will invest Sh1.1 billion to connect 9,000 people in Taita Taveta county to power, including 900 from the Wundanyi constituency.
Ruto took advantage of the chance to preach peace, stating that anyone focused on developing divisive politics will be barred from serving in the newly created broad-based government.
“We are one people, one nation with a common destiny,” he said.
Joho reiterated the President’s remarks, claiming that tribal politics had no place in the new political system in which the opposition and the administration worked together.
Others who joined the President on the development tour were Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi, Trade CS Salim Mvurya, and a slew of local leaders, including Voi MP Khamis Chome and his Kilifi MP Owen Baya.
The President also launched Sir Ramson Last Mile Connectivity project and laid the groundwork for Lesesia Primary and Secondary School in Njukini.
“We are addressing the lack of infrastructure and personnel in our schools by building more classrooms and employing more teachers across the country,” stated Ruto.
“Our goal is to ensure that our children, regardless of their background, have the chance to pursue their dreams.”
Still in Njukini, Ruto laid the groundwork for the Sh10 million Njukini Market and spoke with wananchi and traders.
He also announced the upgrade to the bitumen level of the 25-kilometer Cess (Nghonji) – Rekeke – Lake Jipe Road in Cessi.

He claimed the route would increase agricultural activity by making it easier to move farm goods, support fishing around Lake Jipe, and enhance tourism by connecting Kwale County to Tsavo West National Park and Lake Jipe.
Ruto stated that the Wundanyi Substation will improve the quality of power supply in Wundanyi, Werugha, and neighboring districts.
“This will unlock the region’s agricultural, trade, and ICT potential, spurring economic growth and creating jobs.”
He stated that the substation would include the building of 29 kilometers of 33kV line from Voi to Mwatate Substation, as well as a further 16 kilometers from Mwatate to Wundanyi.
