17 Tanzanian MPs Involved In A Bus Accident While Heading To EALA Games In Mombasa

At least 16 Tanzanian MPs were involved in an accident while heading to Mombasa for the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) games.

The accident occurred on Friday morning when the bus transporting them apparently lost control and collided with an oncoming vehicle in Dodoma’s Mbande district.

Speaking to Tanzanian news site Mwananchi, Dodoma Regional Police Commander George Katabazi confirmed that the accident occurred about 2 a.m.

Katanazi further showed that the bus driver ignored the traffic alert and instead chose to overtake another car along the tight road, resulting in a head-on crash.

He also stated that the bus driver had subsequently been apprehended.

However, he reported that the accident victims were in stable condition after being rushed to the Benjamin Mkapa Hospital in Dodoma.

While speaking to journalists, Katabazi warned drivers to exercise caution when transporting passengers, particularly during the Christmas season, since this could result in injuries and even deaths.

Speaking about the tragedy, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula verified that no deaths were reported; however, he did add that some MPs were injured.
