‘We Are Living Dangerously!’ – Moses Kuria Says Demanding For IEBC Panel In 7 Days
Senior Economic Advisor Moses Kuria has urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) selection panel to begin advertising for commissioner seats immediately.
Kuria, in a brief remark on Saturday, December 7, agreed with Supreme Court Judge Isaac Lonaona, who asked how the country could function without the IEBC Commissioners.
While noting Justice Lenaola’s comments, Kuria asked the IEBC selection panel to begin the recruitment process on Friday, December 13.
According to the government advisor, the delays in appointing the IEBC Commissioners pose a significant threat to the country.
“I urge the other members to meet on Monday and kick off the process of advertising for IEBC Commissioners by Friday, December 13. We are living dangerously without an electoral body,” Kuria said.
Even without the WIPER representative at the IEBC Selection Panel, I agree with Justice Lenaola. The Panel is Quorate. I urge the other members to meet on Monday and kick off the process of advertising for IEBC Commissioners latest by Friday 13th December. We are living…

He then attacked Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka for criticizing President William Ruto’s administration for allegedly interfering with the electoral body’s formation process.
Kuria remarked that the selection of commissioners would proceed without the participation of Kalonzo’s party.
According to him, there were enough people to start the process of forming the electoral body.
“Even without the Wiper Party representative at the IEBC selection panel, I agree with Justice Lenaola. The Panel is Quorate,” Kuria stated.

On Friday, December 6, Justice Isaac Lenaola chastised the government and opposition leaders for failing to designate IEBC Commissioners barely two years before the 2027 general elections.
Lenaola, who spoke at the Regional Conference on the Use of Artificial Intelligence, also criticized members of Parliament for disregarding the electoral body’s constitution while enacting other laws.
The Supreme Court justice also questioned how long the commissioners would have to prepare for the next general election, emphasizing that such difficulties should not hold the country hostage.
“For example, with the electoral commission, how can a country like ours stand on its feet if we do not have an electoral commission? Elections are in 2027, and we are in 2024. When will this commission be prepared?” Lenaonal argued.
