NARC-K Party Rebranded As Martha Karua Ushers In New Name, Party Colours
In a gazette notice, Martha Karua’s National Rainbow Coalition-Kenya (NARC-Kenya) party made a series of modifications to its organs, including changing its name, party symbol, party colours, and party symbol.
“In exercise of the power conferred by section 20 (1) (d) of the Political Parties Act (Cap. 7D), the Registrar of Political Parties gives notice that National Rainbow Coalition-Kenya (NARC-Kenya) intends to change as follows: change of party name, change of party slogan, change of party colours,” the notice read in part.
According to the gazette notice, the party would change its name from NARC-Kenya to People’s Liberation Party (PLP).
Furthermore, the announcement stated that the party planned to change its colors from brilliant, red, and white to lilac, white, and purple.
The party’s symbol would change from a rose flower to a purple rose as part of the rebranding process.
The party will also modify its slogan to ‘Unite, Liberate’ from ‘One Kenya, One Nation, One People’.

The party’s transition follows Karua’s earlier announcement that it will undergo significant changes following her exit as co-principal of the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition.
On November 28, the party leader stated in a news conference that, in addition to the party’s rebranding, the party was seeking to modify its Constitution, which would prevent her from running for party leadership.
Karua revealed that the constitutional modifications will impose term limitations on its senior executives in order to instill a progressive culture and mindset in the party, which was founded in 2012.
“The party delegates have permitted us to amend our party constitution,” Karua revealed.
“We wish to be the first party in Kenya to have term limits for the top leadership of the party. This means that in the next party elections, I will not be eligible to contest.”
NARC-Kenya’s redesign occurred after party delegates authorized the party’s resignation from the Azimio coalition due to an ideological conflict that led to conflicts.

Following a 90-day notice period, the withdrawal was officially approved at the party’s National Delegates Convention (NDC) meeting.
The new changes came as the party prepared for the forthcoming 2027 General Elections, in which Karua has announced her desire to run for President.
During a roundtable discussion at K24 on Monday, November 25, Karua stated that she believes she has the qualities required to be the country’s Head of State.
“I made it as a running mate before. And I will definitely make it as an aspirant. I will toss myself to the battlefield and compete, then we will let Kenyans decide who their president will be,” Karua asserted.
