KNEC Announces New Lost Certificate Application Process: How to Apply

In order to expedite the application process for missing academic credentials, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has implemented a new method for persons wishing to replace their certificates. 

Initially, replacing lost academic documents was a difficult operation that required clearance from multiple government offices before receiving a replacement. 

The application has been simplified in the most recent procedure provided by KNEC, allowing Kenyans to submit applications via an Internet platform. 

Documents Are Required for Application

i) A copy of the lost certificate/result slip (MANDATORY)

ii) Copy of your ID

iii) Passport photo

iv) Police abstract 

How to Apply

1. Create an account at https://qmis.knec.ac.ke.

2. Log in with the credentials supplied to your email.

3 Choose the Lost Certificate option from the menu.

4 Enter the Index number, kind of exam, and year, then click FIND.

5 Attach a copy of the missing certificate/result slip, both sides of your ID, a passport-sized photo, a police abstract, and confirmation from the registrar of persons, which is available at the NSSF building in Upper Hill, Nairobi.

6. Submit the application.

7. Wait for the application to be verified.

8 You will receive an SMS notice to log in and pay.

9. Pay Ksh 5,220 and wait for your application to be processed.

10 Keep monitoring the system to see the status of the application.

11 When the process is complete, you will receive an SMS message to pick up your certification letter from the KNEC headquarters.
