Gachagua and William Ruto will be gone – Senator Onyonka Warns Of The Current Political War

Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka has stated that if ongoing political squabbles continue beyond next year, President William Ruto may choose a different running mate in 2027.

Onyonka predicted that if the ongoing squabbles in Kenya’s Kwanza government continue, a historical pattern in which a president’s relationship with his deputy deteriorates will repeat itself.

According to Onyonka, Gachagua and Ruto will part ways ahead of the 2027 elections.

“By next year if this war continues like this, Gachagua will be gone and William Ruto will be gone,” Onyonka said during an interview with Citizen TV on Monday.

“The question then becomes does Gachagua or Ruto move to the west (Western Kenya) to go and pick a vice president and also what happens to that vice president after Ruto wins his second term. Will he also be betrayed?”

Onyonka’s remarks follow rumours of infighting in Kenya’s Kwanza government.

Gachagua, on Sunday, allayed fears by saying they are on good terms with the president.

“Let us love each other, unite, and live in peace; we are all Kenyans, and if we act accordingly, we will live happily. That is what the President has taught us,” said Gachagua.

“President Ruto and I are doing an excellent job; we love each other and plan our work accordingly. He has assigned me a large amount of work to complete, some of which has become overwhelming, but he has enabled me to work effectively. The government is solid, and we’re making good progress,” stated the Deputy President.

He spoke at an interdenominational church service in Kesses.
