Leaders who support President William Ruto’s administration have emphasized the government’s commitment to inclusion and cohesion.

The leaders, speaking at a thanksgiving service to commemorate the appointment of former Kisumu Senator Fred Outa as Kenya’s envoy to Egypt, stated that the appointment was the clearest indication of an inclusive administration.

According to National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Ruto fulfilled his promise that no community would be left behind because of their political affiliation.

“In his government indeed if you go to Coast, Nyanza, Kisii, Western and even Turkana you will find appointees. We must build a united country without ethnic, or regional boundaries. We want everybody to have a sense of ownership of this country,” Wetang’ula said.

Wetang’ula urged Nyanza residents to cooperate with the current government.

Former Migori Governor Okoth Obado examined the people’s voting patterns in Nyanza in 2022 and compared them to the government appointments that the region had received.

Obado said it was time to return the favour. “I am happy now the house is growing. Let us come and work together so that we can benefit from this olive branch that the President has extended to us.”

The Nyanza region is known as the foundation of opposition politics, led by Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

The region’s leaders challenged Outa to seek opportunities that would improve people’s livelihoods and address some of the socioeconomic challenges they face.

“Go to Egypt and see what they are doing that Kenya is not doing. It is nearly half desert but they produce 10 metric tonnes of rice, 10 metric tonnes of wheat as well as maize,” former Rarieda MP Fred Gumbo said.

The leaders were speaking at the Church of Christ in Africa in Rabuor, Nyando Constituency, Kisumu County, on Sunday.

Others who attended the event included Information, Communication, and Digital Economy CS Eliud Owalo, Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura, Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe, Nominated Senator Rose Nyamunga, and former Kasarani MP Elizabeth Ongoro.

Outa, who is currently awaiting his credentials from Egypt’s president, revealed that during his induction, all African diplomats were tasked with promoting Raila’s candidacy for the African Union Commission Chairperson position.

“The appointing authority (President) has assigned us the duty to campaign for Raila Odinga,” Outa said.

Outa will take over three missions in Egypt, Eritrea, and Jordan.
