Food4Education has been named one of the most influential companies in the world for 2024.

TIME magazine’s Top 100 list recognized the Kenyan company for its school feeding program.

According to the media outlet, the school feeding programme impacted the lives of many students across the country.

Wawira Njiru’s non-profit organization, in particular, was recognized for assisting many students in remaining in school due to food availability.

“In partnership with Kenya’s national government and county authorities, it runs 18 kitchens that source ingredients locally and employ locals, more than half of whom are parents. But for Njiru, feeding the children attending Nairobi’s public schools is just the start.

“In pursuit of its goal to feed 1 million kids each day by 2027, and 3 million by 2030, Food4Education plans to expand into other African countries interested in improving nutrition to bolster children’s school performance,” the publication noted in its ranking.

Currently, Food4Education works with the county governments of Nairobi and Murang’a to provide food at a reduced cost.

“We’re creating the blueprint for scalable, replicable, and cost-efficient school feeding across Africa,” Njiru stated.

For example, in Nairobi schools, students pay Ksh5 for their meals.

Notably, the Kenyan company was ranked alongside top companies like Google and Amazon.

Other companies on the list for 2024 include Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty, Disney, Bank of America, Airbus, Airbnb, Toyota, and Airbnb.

Open AI, the company behind products like Chat GPT, has also been named one of the world’s top 100 firms.

“TIME100 Companies is more than an index of business success. It is an argument for what business influence looks like in 2024. At a time when leadership in other sectors is battered, surveys suggest that many look to corporate leaders first for direction,” read the statement in part.
