Team Kenya’s Paris 2024 Olympics Roster Officially Out

Athletics Kenya has named a team for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with other athletes working hard to meet the qualifying times before the deadline.

The Kenyan trials saw the rise of new talent, with little-known athletes breaking into the list of greats and making the cut for the bonanza, which runs from August 1 to August 11 at the Stade de France.

The men’s 100m will be headlined by the one and only Ferdinand Omanyala, the Beast from the East, while the women will have to work hard to meet the qualifying time before the June 30 deadline.

Faith Kipyegon is confident and ready to double at the Paris Olympics after impressing on the second day of Kenyan trials.

The men’s 400m will see Zablon Ekwam, the only Kenyan to have qualified, take on strong competition from around the world with Wiseman. We’ve also made the 400m Hurdles team for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Mary, the world 800m champion, has also been named Kenya’s sole representative in the 400m, with Lilian Odira having made the 800m Olympic team.

Sarah Moraa has yet to meet the qualifying time and will only be considered if she does.

The men’s 800m will be led by wunderkind Emmanuel Wanyonyi, who will be joined by Commonwealth Games champion Wycliffe Kinyamal and Koitatoi Kidali, while the women’s 1500m will feature Susan Ejore, world record holder Faith Kipyegon, and Nelly Chepchirchir.

The men’s 1500m has attracted Reynold Cheruiyot and Timothy Cheruiyot, while Kyumbe Munguti is also under pressure to meet the qualifying times before the deadline.

In the women’s 3000m steeplechase, Faith Cherotich will lead a team that includes world record holder Beatrice Chepkoech and Jackline Chepkoech, while Simon Koech, Amos Serem, and Abraham Kibiwott will compete in the men’s category.

Kipyegon will also compete in the women’s 5000m, alongside Beatrice Chebet, with Margaret Chelimo having to meet the time. Ronald Kwemoi, Jacob Krop, and Edwin Kurgat make up the men’s 5000-meter team.

Chebet will lead the women’s 10,000m team, which will also include Chelimo and Lilian Kasait, while the men’s 10,000m team will consist of Daniel Mateiko, Nicholas Kimeli, and Bernard Kibet.

The marathon lineup remains unchanged, with defending champions Peres Jepchirchir and Eliud Kipchoge leading the way.

Kipchoge will be accompanied by Benson Kipruto, Alexander Mutiso, and Timothy Kiplagat as reserves. Jepchirchir will be joined by Hellen Obiri, Brigid Kosgei, and Sharon Lokedi as reserves.
