Suba North’s Millie Odhiambo Says ‘Nice Girls Don’t Get The Corner Office’
Suba North a Member of Parliament, Millie Odhiambo, has advised young girls and women to be rebellious in their lives and avoid being bound by societal expectations to be “good” all of the time.
Millie spoke on the floor of the National Assembly on Wednesday in response to Speaker Moses Wetangula’s earlier remark that she should be a good role model to the younger female generation and guide them to be good and humble women.
However, the outspoken legislator dismissed the advice, telling young girls bluntly that being “good” does not guarantee that they will end up where they want or deserve in life.
While citing American author Lois P Finkel’s bestselling book ‘Nice Girls Don’t Get The Corner Office,’ she instead advised the younger girls to adopt her ‘don’t care’ attitude and perhaps the world will see their mettle.
Millie Odhiambo: One of my favourite books is ‘Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office’. Having decorum, dressing nicely, and being kind will get you nowhere. I am a bad girl, yet I am here serving my 4th term pic.twitter.com/8b6KeJ7Ovr

The MP went on to credit her perceived “bad” attitude for her highly successful political career, which includes her fourth term in Parliament.
“One of my favorite books is ‘Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office.’ Mr. Speaker, this is in response to what you told me earlier in the morning when you urged me to set a good example for the girls,” she explained.
“Mr. Speaker, if they’re good girls, they’ll never get the corner office, be as bad as Millie Odhiambo, you will be the mother of this House.
“I am a bad girl, and as a bad girl I’m here serving my fourth term; so do not be cheated like the African culture where you’re told have decorum, dress nicely, be kind, be nice…I’m telling you you’ll go nowhere, be a bad girl like me and you’ll get somewhere.”
