Azimio Chief Says They Will Defend Gachagua From Impeachment
On Friday, June 21, Azimio Principal Kalonzo Musyoka pledged his support for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua against impeachment threats.
Speaking in Kiambu during the consecration of Reverend Benson as Bishop, the Wiper party leader stated that Azimio was willing to support the deputy president despite the impending impeachment.
Kalonzo emphasized that Gachagua had committed no wrongdoing that warranted impeachment.
He also criticized President William Ruto, accusing him of undermining his deputy’s position.
“If they try to impeach Gachagua, as Azimio we will refuse. But we can impeach both Ruto and Gachagua,” Kalonzo stated.
He also praised the deputy president for his bravery in standing firm in the face of opposition and encouraged him to continue fighting for Kenya’s people.
“I admire the courage of the Deputy President, now welcome to the club of courageous people and I call on you to exercise courage for the sake of Kenyans,” the Wiper party leader commented.

The former vice president went on to defend DP Gachagua over claims of being labeled as a villager and called on him not to fall for such comments.
Kalonzo also criticizes the government for failing to protect its citizens following the death of Rex Masai, a young man who reportedly died after being shot while demonstrating.
According to Kalonzo, every Kenyan has the right to picket and demonstrate without interference from police officers.
While responding to Kalonzo, the Deputy President urged the Azimio leader to support his call for regional unity, stating that it was the only way to bring Kenyans together.
Despite constant criticism, Gachagua maintained his call for unity in the Mt Kenya region.
