Ruto Confirms When CS Linturi Will Be Sacked Amidst Fake Fertilizer Probe

President William Ruto announced on Friday, July 5, that he was prepared to fire Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi if he was found guilty in the fake fertiliser scandal.

Ruto reiterated during an engagement at X Spaces that he does not tolerate corruption in his administration.

“When there is evidence gathered enough to have the cabinet minister of agriculture to be guilty, I will fire him,” he assured Kenyans.

Ruto also stated that there were already active cases in court for National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) officials who were involved in the case.

“The Chief Executive Officer and several staff of NCPB are in court to answer for their involvement in the fertilizer scandal,” he stated.

The Head of State clarified that, while CS Linturi was accused by some Kenyans of involvement in the fertiliser scandal, he was never prosecuted for it.

As a result, Ruto stated that if any of his cabinet secretaries were taken to court, he would fire him or her immediately.

When the President announced that he would hold an engagement on X, many Kenyans assumed that he would fire or reshuffle his cabinet.

Ruto clarified minutes into X Spaces that he had no immediate plans to fire any of his cabinet secretaries, but he would consider addressing public concerns about his cabinet.

“I will not dissolve Cabinet because I am in the process of looking at things differently,” he told the nation.

Ruto also apologised to Kenyans after learning that some United Democratic Alliance (UDA) elected politicians were arrogant when communicating with them.

In particular, he apologized on behalf of Molo MP Kuria Kimani and his Kikuyu counterpart Kimani Ichung’wah, who made unpopular remarks.
