Gachagua’a’s Home MP Hits Back At Him After Undermining Remarks
Mathira Member of Parliament Eric Wamumbi confirmed on Sunday that he had a disagreement with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Wamumbi, who took to social media, dismissed claims that the feud was caused by the fight against illicit brews and the closure of several bars.
“It is true, there is a rift between the Deputy President and I. The rift is not about the closed bars in Karatina town which have left the town dead for four months,” he stated.

He accused the DP of making false allegations and urged him to tell Kenyans the truth about why they were at odds.
The politician stated that he would tell the truth and let the people of Mathira decide which narrative was correct. He did not, however, reveal when he would share his side of the story.
“It is about something bigger than that, he should say the truth and nothing but the truth,” he added.
Wamumbi’s remarks came a few hours after Gachagua confronted him and promised to take action against the alleged sabotage of his project to combat the sale of illicit brew in the region.
Gachagua spoke during a church service in the constituency, stating that he had instructed all security officers to disregard the MP’s orders to reopen bars.
“An MP cannot instruct security officers, if security officers from this region are taking instructions from an MP, we shall discipline them,” he remarked.
The Second in Command emphasised that President William Ruto had tasked him with putting an end to the country’s drug abuse epidemic, which had destroyed the lives of hundreds of young Kenyans.
Gachagua complained that the reopening of bars in his constituency was endangering the lives of young men. Earlier, the DP argued that young men were Kenya’s future.
To add to his dissatisfaction with the reopening of bars, Gachagua revealed that on his way to the service, he noticed some young men intoxicated and lying in ditches.
