Azziad Nasenya Confirms Not Among Kenya’s Paris Olympic Games Delegation
Azziad Nasenya, a digital content creator and radio presenter, has denied being a member of Kenya’s delegation to the Olympic Games in Paris, France.
In a statement released on Thursday, Azziad said it was unfortunate that such allegations were made.
She clarified that her involvement with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports began when she was appointed to the Creatives Technical Committee of the Talanta Hela Council, which was later disbanded.
“It is unfortunate that someone would come up with false allegations on such a matter,” she said.
“I was selected and mandated to represent the younger population in the Creatives Technical Committee. However, the committee was disbanded in June 2023. I’ve not involved myself since.”
Azziad went on to say that whenever she has traveled outside of the country, she has always paid for it herself, never the government.
She stated that in other cases, the trips had been funded by clients or her family.

“There were allegations that I travelled to Dubai using money meant for renovating a stadium. At the time, I was in Dubai recording content for the #VisitDubai campaign, a trip that was fully funded by the client,” she said.
“The receipts are on my socials, smart people can confirm instead of believing rumours.”
Azziad’s statement comes as Kenyans call on CS Ababu Namwamba to make public the list of non-athletes who will accompany the Olympic team to Paris.
Three Kenyans have asked the ministry to release full details of those traveling, failing which they will seek legal action.
Charleen Njuguna, Jolly Lanji, and Baverlyne Kwamboka have expressed concern about the cost to Kenyan taxpayers via their lawyers.
Last week, as Ababu and President William Ruto flagged off the team at State House, he emphasized that there would be no room for joyriders.
“There’s no space, there’s no room for joyriders in Paris. There’s only space for Team Kenya to fly the country’s flag high,” Ababu said.
“Even the government delegation is going to be at its barest minimum. We have to tighten the belt.”
