Ex-MP Arrested With Fake Dollars and For Trying To Shoot Police Officers
Police have arrested a former MP after discovering two briefcases allegedly containing counterfeit dollars.
Hon Abdi Tepo, former Isiolo South MP and his wife are currently detained at EACC Police Station.
The EACC stated that it was looking into allegations of public funds embezzlement through fraudulent claims made by the National Hospital Insurance Fund to the city health facility totaling Sh199 million between 2021 and 2023.
The commission stated that as part of the investigation on Thursday, they searched the homes of the city’s health facility directors and NHIF officials.

According to EACC, during their investigations, one of the suspect’s husbands, a former MP, cocked his Ceska pistol when he heard the search team at his door.
“The husband who is a former member of parliament corked his Ceska pistol on hearing the search team at his door,” EACC said.
The Commission says their team recovered several items, including a Ceska Pistol with an alleged expired firearm permit.
“In addition, we recovered two briefcases full of fake US dollars estimated to be in millions together with assorted chemicals (powder & liquid form),” EACC said in a statement.
“Upon allowing access to the house and identification by the search team, the team proceeded with the search and recovered several items among them a Ceska Pistol with an expired firearm permit.”
They also recovered various chemicals (in both powder and liquid form).
According to the Commission, the alleged fake dollars and items have been turned over to the OCS EACC police station in order to move forward with a criminal investigation against the former MP and his wife.
“The search yielded several other useful information that would help advance the investigations,” the statement added.
They consist of original pre-approved NHIF claim forms, patient lists, bank transaction slips, property ownership, and electronic gadgets.
All individuals who were searched were interviewed, and their statements were recorded.
