DP Gachagua Finally Speaks On Ruto’s New-Look Cabinet Amidst Slacking Claims

On Friday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua expressed his satisfaction with President William Ruto’s decision to nominate new cabinet secretaries.

Speaking at a burial in Laikipia County, Gachagua urged Kenyans to stop criticizing the government and embrace the new changes.

The second-in-command also slammed a group of news outlets and political analysts, accusing them of harboring unfounded animosity toward the newly appointed cabinet secretaries.

According to the Deputy President, the Head of State’s decision to nominate new cabinet secretaries benefited all Kenyans.

“I have seen many people, all sorts of analysts, newspaper writers and commentators commenting about the gains and losses, which regions benefitted and which did not, who is strong and who is not,” Gachagua commented.

“I think the whole thing is a win for the people of Kenya and for us in the region are very happy about Mercy’s appointment,” he added.

Gachagua went on to dismiss the allegations surrounding the dismissal of Mercy Wanjau, the cabinet secretary. According to Gachagua, Mercy’s position was still intact.

Mercy Wanjau received praise from the DP for her contributions to cabinet meetings. He described her as a capable and humble public servant.

“I have a testimony because Mercy Wanjau works with us, a very efficient public officer who runs the cabinet properly, we see signs of a good upbringing,” stated Gachagua.

“It is good to clarify because when the cabinet was dissolved, Mercy’s position remained in contact, so there was no need to re-appoint her.”

Gachagua’s sentiments come just two days after President Ruto named the second batch of cabinet secretary nominees.

During his address to the nation on Wednesday, the president named four senior opposition leaders to his new-look cabinet, which he dubbed broad-based.
