OUTRAGEOUS: Kindiki’s Net Worth Increased By Ksh150 Million In 21 Months
Prof. Kithure Kindiki, President William Ruto’s nominee for the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government, has increased his wealth by Ksh 150 million during his 21-month tenure in office.
According to Kindiki, his net worth has increased from Ksh544 million in 2022 to Ksh694 million as of the current vetting.
Kindiki has been the subject of intense scrutiny by the National Assembly Committee on Appointments, chaired by Speaker Moses Wetangula, at a time when demands for thorough investigations into public figures’ financial dealings are at an all-time high.
As he faces questioning from the committee, Kindiki insists that his wealth increase is due to his legal practice and not to any government dealings.

Kindiki, who testified before the committee on Thursday, August 1, attributed his financial success in large part to the performance of his law firm.
“The increase in my net worth comes primarily from my law practice. I have not engaged in any business with the government or applied for any tenders directly or indirectly,” he declared.
The nominee explained that a significant portion of the increase in his net worth resulted from the settlement of a long-standing debt by a client of his law firm, a notable development that contributed to the significant increase in his wealth.
He maintained that his income is solely derived from legal fees and consulting work.
“None of my wealth has come from public funds except my official salary and allowances,” Kindiki emphasised.
In 50 years of his life, Kithure Kindiki made 500M in net worth. However, he made 150M more in 18 months after joining the government. It means that if he is reappointed & continues doing small businesses, he will double the net worth of his 50 years in less than 5 years. pic.twitter.com/wt7JfeJ0sP

During his previous vetting in 2022, Kindiki stated that his net worth was Ksh544 million.
This included approximately Ksh165 million in land and buildings, as well as Ksh50 million in bank deposits, share investments, and various savings cooperatives.
The investigation is part of a larger trend of increased vigilance regarding government officials’ financial situations.
Notably, other cabinet nominees have revealed their net worths.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi reported a whopping Ksh4 billion, while Public Service CS nominee Justin Muturi declared Ksh700 million.
Environment Cabinet Secretary Nominee Aden Duale declared a net worth of Ksh851 million, while Labour CS nominee Alfred Mutua declared Ksh420 million.
Alice Wahome, the Water and Sanitation CS nominee, revealed a net worth of Ksh218 million.
As Kindiki goes through this vetting process, his financial disclosures are likely to continue to garner significant public and media attention.
The ongoing investigation into his wealth will be critical in determining his suitability for the Ministerial position, especially given the climate of increased scrutiny and demand for transparency in Kenya’s public sector.
