18-Year-Old Girl Murdered And Body Dumped In Maize Plantation, Police Mount Search For Suspect
Police in Trans Nzoia are searching for suspects in the rape and murder of an 18-year-old girl who was about to start college.
Eunice Akinyi, 18, has been identified as the fatal victim. Her naked body was discovered on a maize farm in the Kolongolo area of the Kwanza constituency after she had gone missing for several days.
The body was discovered less than one kilometre from their home. DCI officers have been combing the area to identify and arrest those responsible.
Area Chief Alex Wakabete stated that they were working with the security team to find the killers.
“DCI officers have been here several times, and those involved will be brought to book so that her family can get justice,” Wakabete said.
Her parents, Beatrice Barasa and Robert Masika, claimed she left home to get her school leaving certificate from Kesse Secondary School so she could attend college in Makueni, but she never returned.
She was supposed to report to Makueni College to take a beauty course.
Beatrice claimed her daughter was murdered by unknown people who strangled her and left her naked body on a maize plantation.
“She was found with her hands and legs tied with some marks on the neck, and she was completely naked. My daughter died a painful death and I don’t know why they did that to her,” her mother said.
She stated that Akinyi was excited and looking forward to starting college and that his death had deprived the family of a pillar whose young life had been cut short by evil people.
“My daughter had not offended anyone, and we wonder why someone would kill her in such a manner. I plead for justice and ask the government to bring to book those involved,” the mother said.
This week, her body will undergo a postmortem examination.
According to the area police chief, investigations are underway to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
