Former Gor, Stars Player Accused Of Murder Arraigned In Court

On Tuesday, September 3, Collins Okoth Ougo, a former Harambee Stars player appeared in court charged with the murder of a three-year-old girl.

The player and his accomplice were charged with murder in Lucky Summer Estate, Ruaraka, Nairobi.

The duo appeared before Justice Alexander Muteti at the Milimani Law Courts but did not enter a plea. The prosecution team confirmed that the two suspects had been medically assigned.

Justice Muteti ordered mental assessment reports to be filed in court before they pleaded guilty on September 11, 2024.

“The suspect with the help of his co-accused are alleged to have broken into the deceased’s parents’ rental house in Lucky Summer in the absence of her parents and committed the heinous act,” stated the prosecution team.

“Her lifeless body was later discovered dumped in a nearby residence.”

The investigating officer who appeared in court following summons refuted claims that he refused to release a mobile phone and money belonging to the Star’s player.

The officer informed the court that during the arrest, he discovered a mobile phone and a wallet containing two identification cards and an NHIF card.

All of the documents were recorded in an inventory signed by the suspect. The court ordered the investigating officer to release the phone to the suspect.

It also directed him to formally comply with the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA).

The suspect, a well-known ex-Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars midfielder is accused of murdering the minor in April 2024, along with another suspect.

The suspect is in police custody as detectives complete their investigation into the murder.

The suspect has been held at Industrial Area Remand Prison since July 23, while his co-accused is in Lang’ata Women’s Prison.

They will respond to the charges on September 11, as directed by the court, after the investigating officer has completed their investigations.

The suspect has played for several Kenyan Premier League clubs as a midfielder.
