‘He stumbled’ – Uganda Police Denounce Bobi Wine Shooting Claims
Uganda Police have denied reports that opposition figure Kyagulanyi Robert, also known as Bobi Wine, was shot while returning from a Thanksgiving ceremony in Bulindo, Kiira Municipality, Wakiso District.
Contrary to reports from the National Unity Platform (NUP), police believe Wine’s injury was caused by a stumble while getting into his vehicle, which officers on the scene witnessed.
According to police, Wine was invited to the event by lawyer George Musisi. The ceremony reportedly ended without incident.
However, tensions arose when Wine and his team, against police advice, marched through Bulindo town.

Wine was injured during the resulting altercation, according to reports.
Police claim Wine’s injury was caused by stumbling while getting into his vehicle, but Wine and his team claim he was shot.
“During the ensuing altercation, it is alleged that he sustained injuries. Police officers on site claim he stumbled while getting into his vehicle, causing the injury, whereas Hon. Kyagulanyi and his team assert that he was shot,” the police added.
The police have announced that an investigation will be launched to determine the facts of the incident.
Wine was taken to the Najaeem Medical Centre in Bulindo for first aid. The police also said they would look into the alleged shooting and any related incidents.
In contrast, a statement on Wine’s official X account claimed that police and military forces surrounded their vehicles and fired live bullets, resulting in Wine being shot in the leg.
