On Monday morning, a public service vehicle (PSV) bus collided with several boda boda riders, killing one rider and his passenger on the scene.

The tragic incident occurred near the junction of Arwings Kodhek and Oledume Roads in Nairobi.

According to the police, who arrived quickly on the scene, the accident injured over 30 passengers on the bus. They were rushed to the hospital for tests and specialist care.

The crash occurred while the bus was traveling from Kawangware to Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) at a high speed.

Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was speeding, causing the driver to lose control. The driver’s attempts to slow down were unsuccessful because the brakes had failed.

As a result, the bus collided with the boda boda rider and his passenger, killing them on the spot. The bodies of the deceased have been moved to the mortuary and are awaiting an autopsy.

Following the accident, which occurred at 8 a.m., the driver fled, leaving the bus on the road. The police have now launched a manhunt for the suspect.

Following the accident, heavy traffic formed on Oledume Road because the bus had blocked the road. People milled around hoping to catch a glimpse of the scene.

The traffic jam on Gitanga Road worsened after another blockade was erected near Quickmart Supermarket to facilitate an eviction from a contentious plot.

The accident occurred just one day after another boda boda crash in the Denyenye area along the Likoni-Kombani road in Kwale County killed five people.

According to data from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), 1,026 people died in road crashes between January 1 and March 20 of this year.
