Uhuru Ally Plays Down Meeting Gachagua Amid Impeachment Plot
Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni dismissed allegations on Tuesday that former President Uhuru Kenyatta met with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during the latter’s feud with President William Ruto.
Addressing the press at Jubilee offices in Nairobi, Kioni clarified that the former Head of State had not met with either the President or the Deputy President, as previously reported.
The former Ndaragwa MP also clarified that Uhuru Kenyatta had not forgiven DP Gachagua, as claimed by the second-in-command during recent rallies.
While clarifying the situation, Kioni urged the deputy president to stop bringing the former Head of State’s name into his feud with President Ruto.
This regime must end the musical chairs of political drama over who is impeaching who, who gets this or that tender, while the country remains in crisis. “Anyone going around the country claiming that he asked for forgiveness and has been forgiven is a liar. Uhuru has not met any of them and has not held any discussions with them,” Kioni stated.
“Did they seek permission when they were abusing him? Then why are they engaging him now? Let them not drag Uhuru into their menace,” he added.
However, the Jubilee Secretary General revealed that impeaching DP Gachagua would be impossible.
Kioni reiterated that parliamentarians lacked the necessary numbers to impeach the deputy president, as alleged.
“There are many who will be saying yes, there are those who will be saying no and there are those who will abstain,” Kioni stated.

The Jubilee principal’s comments came just three days after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua declared President Uhuru Kenyatta the undisputed Mt Kenya kingpin.

In an interview with Citizen TV, Gachagua hinted at burying the hatchet with the former Head of State.
While reiterating the issue, Gachagua openly expressed regret for his previous actions, in which he openly attacked and rebelled against Uhuru and the larger Kenyatta family.
“Myself and the mountain people, feel very bad that we punished Uhuru Kenyatta,” Gachagua said.
“We demeaned him, we told him off, we embarrassed him for telling us that Raila Odinga is a good man. And we were very brutal with him, and we hammered him.”
