UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Arsenal Defeats PSG, Dortmund Demolishes Celtic And Leverkusen Keeps It Perfect
Arsenal defeated Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 in their Champions League clash on Tuesday, while last season’s beaten finalists Borussia Dortmund dealt Celtic a harsh reality check with a 7-1 victory in Germany.
Dortmund were the biggest winners on a night that also saw Barcelona, Manchester City, and Inter Milan win one-sided games.

Meanwhile, Brest made their Champions League debut against Red Bull Salzburg, winning 4-0.
Arsenal Silence PSG
The clash between Arsenal and French champions PSG in London was the big game of the day as the second round of matches in the new format of European football’s elite club competition began.
The Gunners were deserving winners, as Kai Havertz headed in from a Leandro Trossard cross to open the scoring in the 20th minute.
Bukayo Saka doubled their lead before halftime with a free kick from the right that evaded everyone on its way in.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have won their first Champions League match this season, after drawing 0-0 away to Atalanta two weeks ago.

Dortmund Demolish Celtic
Dortmund are currently leading the 36-team league after defeating Scottish champions Celtic in Germany after winning 3-0 at Club Brugge in their first match.

Dortmund led 5-1 at halftime after Karim Adeyemi scored three goals.
Emre Can scored from the penalty spot, and Daizen Maeda equalized, but Adeyemi took the lead.
Serhou Guirassy scored a penalty before halftime, making it 6-1 midway through the second half, before substitute Felix Nmecha sealed the victory late on.
It is Dortmund’s largest winning margin in the Champions League, following a 6-0 victory over Legia Warsaw in 2016.

Barcelona defeated Swiss champions Young Boys 5-0 to recover from a 2-1 loss at Monaco two weeks ago and their first defeat of the season in La Liga last weekend at Osasuna.
Robert Lewandowski scored twice, with Raphinha and Inigo Martinez also scoring before Mohamed Ali Camara’s late own goal sealed the victory.
Guardiola’s City Run Riot In Slovakia
Pep Guardiola’s City, the Champions League winners in 2023, won comfortably 4-0 away to Slovan Bratislava in Slovakia.

Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden, Erling Haaland, and James McAtee scored the defining goals.
Inter, who lost to City in the final in Istanbul two seasons ago, defeated Red Star Belgrade at home with the same scoreline.
Inter took the lead with a stunning early free-kick from Hakan Calhanoglu, followed by goals from Marko Arnautovic, Lautaro Martinez, and Mehdi Taremi in the second half, the latter from a penalty.
Leverkusen Keeps It Perfect Against Milan
Bayer Leverkusen defeated AC Milan 1-0 thanks to a Victor Boniface goal early in the second half. This is the German champions’ second consecutive win in the competition.
Meanwhile, Brest, the French Champions League newcomers, improved to two wins from two with a 4-0 victory over Salzburg in Austria.
Abdallah Sima, a Senegal striker on loan from Brighton who scored the game-winning goal against Sturm Graz two weeks ago, scored twice.

Mahdi Camara and Mathias Pereira Lage also scored for Brest, who scored three goals in 10 second-half minutes.
The bottom three teams in the early standings are Salzburg, Slovan Bratislava, and Young Boys.
VfB Stuttgart and Sparta Prague drew 1-1, with Enzo Millot putting the Germans ahead and Finnish international Kaan Kairinen equalising before halftime.
PSV Eindhoven and Sporting Lisbon also drew 1–1. Jerdy Schouten’s opener for the Dutch champions was cancelled out by Daniel Braganca’s late equaliser.
