Ruto Adviser’s Weird Post Causes Storm On X, Kenyans Debunk The Allegation

Online discussion has been sparked by the convoluted events surrounding the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, the subsequent nomination and confirmation of his replacement, and the high court’s decision to slam the brakes on the move.

After the Senate impeached Gachagua on Thursday night, President William Ruto selected Interior CS Kithure Kindiki to succeed him on Friday morning.

The nomination was nearly instantly approved by the National Assembly, which led to rumors that Kindiki may take the oath of office on Saturday.

This was even after the court prevented Ruto from selecting a successor to Gachagua and stayed the Senate’s vote to sustain the National Assembly’s impeachment of him on October 8.

The rumor that Kindiki would be sworn in on Saturday in spite of the court order have continued being fueled. This is after, Ruto’s senior adviser on economic affairs Moses Kuria posted a cryptic tweet.

“Kesho ni ile siku,” the tweet stated. Kuria accompanied it with other images that looked to show preparations in full swing at the Uhuru Gardens, the likely location for the oath-taking event.

A lot of Kenyans responded to Kuria’s tweet, with some questioning whether the laying of the stage at Uhuru Gardens, combined with Kuria’s cryptic message, lends validity to the swearing-in rumors.

While issuing orders suspending the Senate’s vote to impeach Gachagua, Justice Chacha Mwita cautioned parties not to disregard the order.

He stated that he had forwarded the case to Chief Justice Martha Koome in order to form a bench to consider the serious constitutional questions brought by Gachagua about the ousting procedure in an application filed by Senior Counsel Paul Muite.

“Take notice that any disobedience or non-observance of the order of the court served herewith will result in penal consequences to you and any other person(s) disobeying and not observing the same,” the judge said.

The swearing-in ceremony for Gachagua’s replacement would be presided over by the Chief Justice.

If the rumors concerning the Saturday swearing-in are true, CJ Koome will be in a difficult situation.

However, several Kenyans claimed the venue was being prepped for a musical event headed by Prince Indah.
