CS Mutua Suffers Acute Public Backlash After Advertising Jobs In Qatar
The public has reacted negatively to Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua’s advertisement of job opportunities with a Qatari company.

CS Mutua, like his boss, President William Ruto, has advocated for exporting local labour to foreign countries to reduce Kenya’s 12.7 percent unemployment rate.
In this case, he posted on his social media platform about a Qatari company whose representatives are in Nairobi looking for skilled workers in a variety of fields.

A Qatari company, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, is in Nairobi conducting interviews for various job opportunities over the next two days.

The jobs are organized into two major industries: hospitality and service, as well as construction and technical roles.
Jobs in the hospitality industry include nurses, kitchen helpers, runners, children’s attendants, hotel maintenance technicians, light vehicle drivers, waitresses, and stewarding supervisors, among others.
Construction helpers, electricians, masons, plumbers, tile layers, steel fixers, painters, storekeepers, and welders are among the many jobs available in the industry.
The interviews are scheduled to begin on Friday, October 25 and end on Sunday, October 27.
“Please ensure you are familiar with your industry and job duties. Only candidates for the listed job openings will be allowed entry,” Mutua said.
“No fee will be charged to be interviewed or considered. Once hired, you will be given requirements for medical, visa processing etc, air ticket and other travel modalities will be provided free of charge.”
After posting information about the job opportunities, the CS posted a photo with the tagline “Mbele iko sawa.”
The post, however, did not go over well with the majority of Kenyans, who questioned the government’s obsession with exporting labor to other countries rather than creating a conducive business environment in Kenya.

A good government officer doing good indeed.
— Francis Jumba (@Shivelenjejumba) October 24, 2024
You are not hiding for your friends and families, you want everyone to benefit because it's a decoy setup for maids and watchmen.
If it was lucrative top government opportunities we couldn't see, anyway niyakuja .
Are you the company's photo/profile/poster ? If only you spent as much time governing as you do crafting those cringe-worthy tweets, we might actually see some progress around here!

Others questioned whether the CS’s social media accounts had become a recruitment agency platform.

The President campaigned in 2022 on lofty promises to create millions of jobs for the common man and lower the cost of living.
After two years in office, the President has traveled to numerous foreign countries in an effort to secure jobs, as well as established the Affordable Housing program to address the country’s unemployment problem.
This, however, remains a tall order, as the majority of Kenyans have condemned the Kenya Kwanza administration’s excessive taxes and high cost of living, which have caused an economic crisis and stifled business growth.
