‘Just Resign!’ – Kalonzo Tells Ruto For ‘Violating Oath Of Office’

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has called for President William Ruto’s immediate resignation.

The Azimio co-principal accused the President of violating his oath to protect Kenya’s Constitution.

“Mr Ruto should resign with immediate effect for violating his Oath of Office ‘to be faithful and bear true allegiance to the public of Kenya,’ and that he would ‘obey, preserve and protect this constitution of Kenya’,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo also accused President Ruto of ignoring the country’s numerous abduction cases and dismissing them as fake news, despite the fact that such incidents occur frequently.

“Despite overwhelming evidence, Mr. Ruto continues to claim that he is not aware of any such incidents. Ruto further says that these abductions and extrajudicial killings are ‘fake news and propaganda that is hurting our nation’,” Kalonzo continued.

According to Kalonzo, President Ruto intends to return Kenya to a police state, which is harming the country.

“We want to make it clear to Mr Ruto that it is his ill-thought-out efforts to revert Kenya to a police state that is hurting the nation. The buck stops with him.” the Azimio co-principal assured.

Kalonzo’s call comes as the country has seen an increase in cases of abductions and enforced disappearances linked to state security agents in recent days.

This is in stark contrast to the promise President William Ruto made upon taking office.

The most recent disappearance is that of Maveric Aoko, a social media personality who has been outspokenly critical of the government.

Prior to her disappearance, political blogger Francis Gaitho, who had criticized Ruto’s policies, went missing as well.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna called for Aoko’s release during his appearance before the Senate Plenary on Wednesday. Sifuna stated that it is the police’s responsibility to protect Kenyans and their properties.

“Let us not sit here thinking that we are immune to this thing. Anybody can be plucked from the streets, blogger Maverick Aoko has not been found up to now, what sort of country is this,” Sifuna stated.

The cases of kidnapping and extrajudicial killings continue to raise concerns in the country. The Law Society of Kenya has urged Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja to protect Kenyans.
