Rigathi Gachagua, the ousted deputy president, and his wife Dorcas have expressed their feelings after Kithure Kindiki was appointed as President William Ruto’s new deputy.

The two took to social media, posting various messages and a photo of themselves with their two sons, Keith Ikinu and Kevin Gachagua, at their Nyeri home.

“Home sweet home. Thanking God for the gift of my family. The smell of fresh grass, sounds of chirping birds is what a happy family needs,” Gachagua posted.

Gachagua stated that he will be forever grateful to God for providing him with a loving and supportive family.

“We are happy to be home, where I was born and brought up!”

“I can’t wait for the morning to take my walk in my home forest, enjoy the beautiful scenery of Mt Kenya as I thank God for His kindness.”

Dorcas declared “We give God all the glory” and posted the same picture on her social media account.

She stated that it is easy to lose sight of the cardinal rule of being a believer when confronted with challenges and circumstances.

“Today, my family and I choose to give a prayer of thanksgiving, understanding that, God remains sovereign, whether He saves us from fire or not, Daniel 3:16-18,” she said.

“We give thanks to God for His awesome faithfulness. We call Him, Ebenezer, for this far we celebrate Him. We have seen His mercy and experienced His goodness. Glory and honour be to His Holy name.”

She further cited Job 13:15-16: “Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face. Indeed, this will turn out for my deliverance, for no godless person would dare come before him.”

Kindiki was sworn in as the new Deputy President after a court lifted orders barring his inauguration due to legal challenges by Gachagua, who was impeached by the Parliament.

Ruto, who nominated Kindiki as his deputy, was joined by diplomats and thousands of guests at the event.

Kindiki’s inauguration day was declared a public holiday on Friday.
