The family of the late Willys Ayieko, a Wells Fargo human resource manager, has praised the government’s efforts to bring his killers to justice.

Speaking at a candlelight vigil in memory of Ayieko, his elder brother, Aggrey Onyango, expressed satisfaction with the government agencies’ efforts thus far.

The Siaya Political Forum, of which Ayieko was a member, organised the vigil, which took place at Governor’s Park in Siaya town.

“The Government is good,” he said and appreciated the efforts of Siaya Governor, James Orengo and Alego-Usonga Member of Parliament, Samuel Atandi.

He also said that Atandi literally camped outside the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters to demand justice for his deceased brother.

Onyango, the former chairman of the now-defunct Siaya County Council, stated that the family is still seeking information about the man responsible for his younger brother’s brutal murder.

“I am still asking who is this mighty man who wanted Willys dead,” posed Onyango.

Sylvestre K’okoth, a member of Siaya County’s Executive Committee for Agriculture, described the late Ayieko as a gentleman who despised confrontation.

“He would never engage in any altercation that would raise tension or make people feel angry or upset,” said K’okoth.

He also stated that when things threatened to spiral out of control, Ayieko would use diplomatic language to bring peace.

The CECM for Education, Edgar Otumba, who was with the deceased at Kenyatta University, was horrified by how his attackers tortured and killed him.

“Whoever wanted Willys dead should not have done it the way they did it. Why do you have to torture and maim somebody’s body that way?” he posed.
