Police Impersonator Beaten To Death By Irate Residents In Nakuru
On Monday, November 4, one person was killed and another narrowly escaped from irate villagers in Mogoon, Nakuru West Sub-County.
Villagers allegedly decided to take matters into their own hands after discovering a group of four men impersonating police officers.
One of the imposters was cornered and lynched, while the other narrowly escaped with his life.
One witness described the events of the day, including how members of the public alerted others when they discovered the suspects’ fraudulent scheme.
“All I heard was people raising alarm over thieves,” a witness said, adding that villagers eventually cornered one of the imposters.
Confirming the incident, Nakuru Police Commander Michael Mwaura revealed that one set of police uniforms was discovered inside the suspects’ car, while two others fled on foot.
Authorities also confiscated the suspects’ handcuffs.
This latest incident highlighted a troubling trend in which people impersonate police officers in order to commit crimes.
In September, a grieving family was confronted with the harsh reality of scammers masquerading as police officers.
An individual defrauded them of KSh 20,000 by claiming to know the whereabouts of Victoria Wambua, a female taxi driver who went missing before being found dead.

In July of this year, five people, including a police officer, were apprehended in Kitui while posing as Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission officials.
The five were reportedly targeting a senior government official, from whom they wanted to extort a large sum of money.
A separate incident in Busia earlier this year saw a woman arrested after she was found impersonating a General Service Unit (GSU) officer.
The suspect was dressed in full GSU uniform and carrying an AK-47, but when asked for identification, he was unable to produce it.
