12-Year-Old Boy Stabs Teenager To Death Over Toys
A 12-year-old child stabbed to death his 16-year-old friend after they disagreed about toys while playing at a residence in Eldoret.
Uasin Gishu County police chief Benjamin Mwanji said that the event occurred at a property in Kipkaren Estate, on the city’s outskirts.
Mwanthi stated that the 16-year-old boy went to a neighbour’s house to play with toys, but the two had a disagreement.
“The 12-year-old suddenly rushed to the kitchen and returned with a knife, which he used to stab his friend in the chest,” said Mwanthi.
He claimed there were no adults present at the time, but some neighbours were drawn to the house as the victim yelled out in pain.

The severely injured youngster, who was bleeding, was taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mwathi stated that the child who attacked his friend and his parents were assisting police with inquiries.
“We are investigating this unfortunate incident, but we urge parents to be keen with their children during this holiday period,” Mwanthi said.
He stated that parents must guarantee that their children play in safe areas free of potentially dangerous objects.
Residents of the Kipkaren estate were shocked by the incident, and police officers on the scene struggled to control crowds.

Police discovered a knife at the home that was suspected of being used in the murder. The boys are both in Grade 5 at a local school.
Mwanthi advised parents to take a high level of responsibility for their children now that schools are closed for the December holidays.
“We have many cases of parents neglecting their children without close observation, and this leads to such incidents,” Mwanthi said.
Bishop David Kimani, who is also a resident of the Kipkaren Estate, said parents should limit their viewing of violent acts, which they end up copying and implementing the same.
