TRAGEDY! Another KCSE Student Dies, Parents Informed By PasserBy
Police have initiated an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) student in Lodwar on Thursday, November 21 night.
The student died under mysterious circumstances, prompting investigations into his demise.
While the investigation is ongoing, the boy’s parents are outraged after being informed of his death by a well-wisher rather than school management.
The parents learned of their son’s death from a passerby who came to inform them that he was in the morgue.
According to his peers from Turkana Talent High, Lodwar, the child who we have chosen not to identify, appeared frightened on Thursday evening after sitting for his exams.
His classmates said he chose isolation over social interaction. According to reports, the deceased’s friend discovered him unconscious in an isolated area of the school compound.
According to witnesses, the friend observed that the deceased had consumed poison. He then dashed to the nearby dormitories, looking for milk to help the deceased.
The pupils are claimed to have then performed first aid on him as a teacher summoned an ambulance. Upon arrival, the medics discovered him foaming at the lips.
“I gave him the milk, while the madam called the ambulance. He was so weak, I was holding him in my hands,” a student narrated.
The youngster is said to have died on the route to the hospital. The parent was upset with the school administration for failing to inform them of what had happened.
Turkana Central Police Commander Evans Ombui confirmed that DCI officers have already commenced the inquiry.

According to Ombui, they didn’t notify the parents because the issue was already being investigated.
“I did not refuse to inform the parents, I was blocked by the investigating team. They told me that they will inform the family through the chief,” he said.
‘Jontez,’ as he was affectionately known by his classmates, has added to the list of countless deaths that have occurred during the 2024 KCSE exams, which end on Friday, November 22.
