MP Wamuchomba Sends A Fiery Message To Ruto On Animal Vaccination
Githunguri Member of Parliament (MP) Gathoni Wamuchomba criticized the government, notably President William Ruto, on Thursday for plans to vaccinate over 22 million livestock in Kenya beginning in January 2025.
In a recorded video, the lawmaker criticized the government’s vaccination policy, describing it as a globalist goal with harmful consequences that should not be allowed to go on.
She stated that the vaccines to be used had not been adopted in their countries of origin.
“I wish to change from the onset, this is not our idea. It is a foreign idea being pushed to us with some clear intentions and deliverables,” she stated.
According to the congressman, the immunization intends to introduce a gene-modifying medicine to livestock animals so that they stop spewing methane into the air in order to tackle climate change.

Wamuchomba called the proposal ludicrous because Kenyans had coexisted with the animals for decades with no negative consequences, raising questions about the motivation behind the vaccination.
She also stated that cattle are valuable and a part of African history.
The MP, an ally of Rigathi Gachagua, accused the president of making the decision without consulting citizens.
“It is not okay for the president to go to an international meeting and agree to vaccinate our animals without our consent,” she blasted.
She went on to say that some who support immunization argue that the animals’ natural release of intestinal gas into the atmosphere is a method of relief from normal feeding and that the flatulent process is detrimental to the environment, which she strongly disagrees with.
“They want us to stop producing our own food and make sure that we are dependent on their own food. This is a globalist idea that comes with a lot of negative impacts,” she explained rejecting the proposed vaccination exercise.
She also vowed to oppose vaccination, urging Kenyans not to get their animals vaccinated.
“I reject this experimental programme in totality. Let everybody know that we will resist them till the very end,” she said.
“The vaccination hurts our animals and our cultural heritage endangers our people genetically, our animals genetically, interferes with the productivity and reproductivity of these animals and in totality has some cost implications.”

On November 21, Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development Andrew Karanja assured Kenyans that the immunizations were safe.

This came after Kalonzo Musyoka accused the administration of having a secret goal in the vaccine campaign.
The CS stated that the program is consistent with the government’s overall policy to address livestock health issues, which affect productivity and the livelihoods of millions of Kenyans who rely on agriculture.
President Ruto announced the immunization’s implementation while in Narok on November 8, 2024, claiming that it will assist protect the worldwide market for cattle products.
