‘They Want To Manipulate Next Election!’ – Kalonzo Exposes Ruto’s 2027 Plans
The opposition claims that President William Ruto and his cabinet are preparing an early conspiracy to rig the 2027 elections in their favor.
The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition faction that opposes Ruto, led by Kalonzo Musyoka, has informed the country that attempts to influence the polls are underway.
The former vice president claimed that the government is purposefully refusing to reconstitute the Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as part of a plan to remain uncontested.
During a news briefing at the SKM Command Center, Kalonzo said that the present Kenya Kwanza regime intended to disrupt the electoral process by delaying the reconstruction of the IEBC.

“Kenya Kwanza is preparing to undermine the people’s sovereign authority and manipulate the next election,” Kalonzo claimed.
“The Bill (Elections (Amendment) Bill 2024) in the Senate to stop the live streaming of election results is one way of stealing the coming elections,” he added.
Proponents of the Bill emphasize that election officials will be required to electronically send results to the national tallying centre within two hours after their declaration at polling stations and constituency tallying centres.
Currently, the election law requires that presidential results be tallied at all polling stations and published on the Independent Election and Boundaries Commission’s (IEBC) official website so that Kenyans can see real-time results via live streaming at the national tallying center.
The former vice president made these remarks while urging for the adoption of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) Report, which established guidelines for the IEBC’s restoration and commissioner selection.
Kalonzo went on to express his concern about the lack of respect for constitutional timetables for border delimitation and member reconstitution.
On IEBC, the regime is not interested in the reconstitution of a credible commission. Through sponsored court cases, the process of setting up the panel has been frustrated.

The Constitution under Article 89(2) provides, “The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission shall review the names and boundaries of constituencies at intervals of not less than eight years and not more than twelve years, but any review shall be completed at least twelve months before a general election of members of Parliament.”
Kalonzo’s issue stemmed from the fact that the timetable for this review ended in March 2024 in the absence of an IEBC body of commissioners.
“The regime is already breaching the Constitution by failing to meet constitutional deadlines for boundary delimitation. We are already facing a constitutional crisis,” he posed.
Kalonzo went on to accuse the government of using litigation to undermine the IEBC commissioner appointment process.
The NADCO report proposed that the IEBC’s commissioners be raised from seven to nine. It also advocated that the commission’s decision be made unanimously or by a majority vote.

“On the IEBC, the regime is not interested in the reconstitution of a credible panel. Through state-sponsored court cases, the process of setting up the panel has been frustrating,” he reiterated.
Kalonzo challenged the judiciary to step in and give a path ahead by addressing the pending constitutional gap, which later surfaced.
“For the Judiciary, who are our last line of defense in the interpretation of the law, we have a simple question for you. Did the Constitution envisage a situation where the IEBC commissioners are not in office?” Kalonzo quipped.
“Did the framers of the Constitution contemplate a situation where the courts can allow for a dysfunctional commission?”
