Hassan Joho, the Mining Cabinet Secretary, has taken a jab at Kenyans who have threatened to expose him on the internet following his contentious comments about idle social media users.

The former Mombasa Governor stated that he would not be coerced into changing his attitude against Kenyans critiquing the government on the Internet.

Joho was speaking at the Devki Iron Ore Pelletisation Plant’s groundbreaking ceremony in Taita Taveta County on Tuesday.

Addressing a meeting attended by President William Ruto, the mining CS promised to take action against anyone who used the internet to criticize Ruto’s administration.

According to Joho, he received multiple texts from Kenyans who gave him threats on Monday, December 2, to force him to change his opinion about internet users.

“Yesterday they came to me at night, they said they wanted to punish me and sent me Ksh1 each but I want to tell them that they should do the same today and even send me more money,” Joho stated.

“This is the only country where someone takes to social media to negatively comment about their leaders and use negative images to predict their fate,” he added.

Joho explained that his reaction to the criticism stemmed from a recent conference he attended in the United States when the majority of the inquiries given to him focused on emotions voiced by Kenyans on social media.

“People are saying Kenya is going down but let me tell you, Kenya is not sinking and I want to tell you we are on the ground to keep commenting on social media,” Joho stated.

While expressing his displeasure, Joho advised Kenyans to show devotion to their country by focusing not only on the negative issues that affect it but also on the progress accomplished by the current administration.

“How can a Kenyan who does not know anything post on social media that Raila Odinga must fall?” he ranted.

“Talking about AU. How unpatriotic can you be as Kenyans that even one of your own who has a chance to lead you’re saying they must fall? We will come for you, my friend.”

Joho’s recent statements came a day after he criticized sluggish social media users for spending too much time on the internet criticizing President Ruto’s administration rather than focusing on nation-building.

However, the former Mombasa governor’s remarks swiftly caught the attention of many Kenyans online, with some condemning his unwarranted remarks.
