Joho Responds To Betrayal Claims After Landing CS Job

Hassan Joho, Mining Cabinet Secretary, has denied charges that he deserted Kenyans by accepting President William Ruto’s cabinet job.

During an appearance on the Obinna Live Show on Monday, December 9, Joho stated that his decision to take the CS position was solely to help Kenyans.

According to the former Mombasa Governor, his new position in government enabled him to carry on the pledges made to Kenyans by the Azimio alliance during the 2022 campaigns.

While addressing his previous criticism of President Ruto’s administration, the CS stated that he has since changed his mind and now recognises Ruto as his boss.

“There is no betrayal whatsoever, it is what we can do now because we now have the opportunity. For instance, if we had succeeded, we could have done the same things we promised Kenyans,” Joho noted.

“Ruto is now my boss and I regard him as the leader of the nation and we have a good relationship. We have worked together before in different spectrums of politics,” he added.

Joho went on to criticize Kenyans who were upset with President Ruto’s leadership, claiming that people who were unhappy with Ruto’s government had no justification to criticize the existing leadership.

According to the CS, the government has implemented many initiatives to address the difficulties that Kenyans face.

He also urged the public to be patient while the government worked to find long-term answers.

“There are some great things that are being done, some of these things take time to show results, just like someone who plans things, there are some that take time while others short time,” Joho said.

During the interview, the CS admitted to failing academically; however, Joho stressed that his previous educational setback would not prevent him from succeeding and serving Kenyans.

He ascribed his scholastic failure to various hardships he faced during his school life. Among the setbacks the CS listed were the lack of fundamental requirements for a school-going kid.

“I admit that I failed in examinations but not in life, despite failing my academics, I have struggled with life and overcame that. I am happy that I have not failed in life like I did in my exams,” the former Mombasa Governor revealed.
