Full List Of Kenyans Honored at State House – Sifuna, IG Kanja Lead The Pack
President William Ruto has recognized numerous Kenyans, including Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, for their remarkable contributions to the country as Kenya celebrates 61 years of independence.
During an award ceremony at State House in Nairobi on Sunday, the Head of State presented multiple state honors to trailblazers and specialists from various sectors in recognition of their efforts.
The winners came from a variety of professions, including security, medicine, and the creative arts.
Notable recipients include Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, Molo Member of Parliament Kuria Kimani, and actress Sarah Hassan.
IG Kanja was honored with a Moran Elder of Golden Heart (MGH) award for leading and coordinating numerous security operations since joining the police service.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was one of 74 recipients of the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (First Class), awarded during a ceremony at State House, Nairobi, following this year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens.
Among the missions he was recognized for were directing the Kenyan Police Command during the Dusit D2 attack in Westlands, Nairobi, and the Linda Boni Multiagency operation.
Ruto also honored Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu for her unwavering dedication to the rule of law and the delivery of justice to the most disadvantaged. She was granted the Elder of the Golden Heart (EGH).
Kuria received the Chief of Order of the Burning (CBS) for his distinguished service as a Member of Parliament and chair of the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning.
Kuria was also recognized for her efforts to promote youth leadership by co-founding the Africa Young Parliamentarian Association Network.
Purity Muthoni Ngina, Kenya’s youngest PhD in Mathematics and Chief Executive Officer of a Constitutional organization, was also conferred a Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS) by the Head of State.
Bob Monroe, the founder of the Mathare Youth Football Association (MYSA) and the Mathare Football Club, was named an Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear.
The two sports organizations were established in 1987 and have since produced numerous elite players and coaches for the national team.
Ruto honored the late Makadara Law Court Magistrate Monica Njeri, who died in the line of duty after being shot by a police officer at her workstation.
Njeri was honored for her role in encouraging the resolution of cases involving gender-based violence, as well as other important contributions she made to the court system.

Sarah Hassan, an actress, producer, and television personality, received the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) for her outstanding contributions to the global expansion of Kenya’s film and entertainment industries.
